Class Descriptions
|
| JAZZ
|
| • Beginning Jazz is an introduction to Jazz including basic jazz rhythm and movement.
|
| • Street Jazz utilitzes elements of funkadelic hip hop, ballet, and traditional jazz technique.
|
| • Beginning/Intermediate Turns & Jumps concentrates on the following techniques: spotting techniques, chassé, pas de bourrée, piqué turn, chaîné turns, single and double pirouette, jeté, second jumps, and a basic switch leap.
The techniques learned in this class are very specific, have been developed through years of training, and are rooted in basic physics.
You will be able to utilize these techniques in every dance discipline.

| • Advanced Turns will take what you’ve learned in Beg./Int. Turns and take it to the next level including: change of spot, multiple pirouettes, quick footwork, fouttés, à la seconde turns, multiple piqués, full switch leaps, tour jetés, big second jumps, and a combination of all of the above.
|
| • Strength & Stretch is cross training for dancers utilizing muscles that are generally not used in dance class. It contains specific cardio for endurance, focusing on core strength and mental toughness.

| HIP HOP
|
| • Hip Hop Basics is an introduction to basic hip hop rhythm and timing, popping and locking, floating, and waving.
|
| • Funkadelic Hip Hop is a unique style of hip hop dance utilizing jazz, latin funk, waving, popping, locking, floating, and old school funk.
|
| BALLET
|
| • Beginning Ballet, Ages 7-10, focuses on positioning, flexibility, balance, French terminology, and ballet positions and steps including: plié, tendu , dégagé, chassé pas de bourreé, changement, échappé, soubresaut, chassé, sauté arabesque, pas de chat.
|
| • Ballet 1 students must be able to execute the steps from the previous level.
This class focuses on body alignment, flexibility, balance, French terminology, including, but not limited to, the following steps: rond de jambe, grand battement, chaîné turns, piqué turns, Cecchetti method arabesques, pirouettes en dehors, balancé, assemblé, attitude, jeté, leaps, and royale.

| • Ballet 2 students must be able to execute the steps from the previous level. This class will focus on the following additional steps: cecchetti method basic positions of the body, fondu, développé, frappé, pas de cheval, double pirouette en dehors, pirouette en dedans, balloné, ballotté, soutenu, entrechat trios, entrechat cinq, and more.

| • Contemporary Ballet 3, 4, 5 encompasses traditional ballet steps, exercises, and positions in a more lyrical, contemporary feel including classical and contemporary music. Students must be able to execute the steps from the previous levels and will continue to expand their ballet vocabulary.

| TAP
|
| • Beginning Rhythm Tap introduces the basic elements of tap dance technique and terminology highlighting the importance of rhythm and sound.
|
| • Tap 1 & 2 expands upon the Beginning curriculum with longer rhythmic phrases and faster, more complex footwork.
|
| • Company Tap Moves at a faster pace covering various tap styles, emphasizing rhythm and sound.
